“transient” video tutorial coming soon

Transient Video Tutorial
Available soon….

transient

I am really excited about this animation. I have been experimenting with replicators and paint stroke to create spikes that grow in 3d space.

Something like this is achievable in After Effects by using Trapcode plugin….

Well I am very proud of this one. This animation really shows how powerful Apple Motion 3 can be if it is explored in detail. Although the spikes do not have the thickness the final result is quite pretty. This method of working will open lots of other creative possibilities. In this animation I have used lights, lots of masking, replicators, paint tool, and colour correction filters.

I want to point out to all of you that it is also possible to recreate the same effect in real 3d (spikes could have thickens as the camera rotate around them.) Leave a comment if you want me to show you how to do this in real 3d.

As a extra bonus I have added a sound track to this one. Nothing special but works OK….

Thanks to all of you who have commented so far. Replicators and paint tool together can create some awesome effects. I will create an animation that shows how the paint tool looks in 3d, I can not promise when, as I am really busy. Stay tuned…:-)

Could take some time before Motion 4 comes out… Would be nice to see it soon, but Steve Jobs is focusing the company on the next iPhone, which could come in several months time.

Yes I know. It seems that Apple are pulling out of NAB show this year. I was really surprised about this. I was eagerly anticipating NAB and a possible release of Phenomenon (Shake replacement).

  24. Gravatar Greg — 02/04/2008

    Very good
looks a bit static once it has grown
prehaps move camera around the roots instead of rotating the roots ro show depth and dynamism

  25. Gravatar zak — 02/04/2008

There are few things you can do to make it more dynamic. Camera moves as you have said is a good one, also you can apply wriggle shape behavior.
