Transient Video Tutorial
Available soon….
I am really excited about this animation. I have been experimenting with replicators and paint stroke to create spikes that grow in 3d space.
Something like this is achievable in After Effects by using Trapcode plugin….
Well I am very proud of this one. This animation really shows how powerful Apple Motion 3 can be if it is explored in detail. Although the spikes do not have the thickness the final result is quite pretty. This method of working will open lots of other creative possibilities. In this animation I have used lights, lots of masking, replicators, paint tool, and colour correction filters.
I want to point out to all of you that it is also possible to recreate the same effect in real 3d (spikes could have thickens as the camera rotate around them.) Leave a comment if you want me to show you how to do this in real 3d.
As a extra bonus I have added a sound track to this one. Nothing special but works OK….

Hey Zak, thanks
where is the downloadable copy, i need to take this offline to work on it
I have not made this as yet available as a video tutorial. I will do this in the near future. If you want to download the animation you can do this by right clicking on the animation and saving it as a source to your desktop. Let me know did you do it.
hey, hey, our man is back with a new great animation. I’m intrigued about the light feature so I’ll keep an eye open for when you post the tutorial.
thanks for everything, zak!
HI Armando, it is always nice to hear from you, what is happening in Cuba at the moment. I just loved working on this one, I will do my best to bring this one to all of you soon.
Great work as always Zak! Thanks for including me on the list. Seeing flourishes EVERYWHERE these days – thanks for your tutorial on it, I’m going to create my first animation using it.
Great work. I’m for you doing the video tutorial in 3D.
Keep it coming Zak.
This will really help!
Thanks to all of you who have commented so far. Replicators and paint tool together can create some awesome effects. I will create an animation that shows how the paint tool looks in 3d, I can not promise when, as I am really busy. Stay tuned…:-)
Man…this one looks great Zak. Can’t wait…
Also, I would love to see this in 3d.
Looks like all of you are as excited as I am. Thanks to all of you who have commented.
This looks great! I can’t wait to do this one. I will also take it in real 3D if you don’t mind :)
Just added a sound track to this animation. I hope you like it.

Wonderful word – DEDLINE it’s sound fun in my translation!
Inspirational, great effects without any plug-inns. Love the lighting and background, great camera work. This opens a whole new direction, Zak lead the way and open our creative minds, thanks forever in your debt
a killer one, real 3d is a must!
WHERE´S MY TUTORIAL!!!!???
Thanks people. What we have achieved here is really interesting effect without using third party plugin. I can not wait to see depth of field build in Apple Motion 4.
this looks amazing thanks !
Geat work as always..you are blowing my MIND DUDE! keep me posted as always!
Could take some time before Motion 4 comes out… Would be nice to see it soon, but Steve Jobs is focusing the company on the next iPhone, which could come in several months time.
Yes I know. It seems that Apple are pulling out of NAB show this year. I was really surprised about this. I was eagerly anticipating NAB and a possible release of Phenomenon (Shake replacement).
Very good
looks a bit static once it has grown
prehaps move camera around the roots instead of rotating the roots ro show depth and dynamism
There are few things you can do to make it more dynamic. Camera moves as you have said is a good one, also you can apply wriggle shape behavior.
awesome! your site is super benevolent!
Thnaks. We are doing our best to make this site your number one.
Excellent job so good I can’t wait to see the tutorial I like the glow and the color blending.
Many thanks. I am going to work on this tutorials as soon as the madness around end of the academic year finishes.
