Diamond Sphere video tutorial is now available. I am sure you are going to love this one as it is pretty easy to make it. As Always leave a comment please if you think you have learned something new.

I have enjoyed creating this video tutorial. I hope that all of you who will watch it will gain something from it.
I have used some simple techniques to create this animation. This just proves the point how easy it is to get to a meaningful animation in Apple Motion 3.

I would like to thank Mark Spencer for telling me how to constrain particle emitter by using drag behavior.

You can use any shape to make this. Although it will look very differently. Experimenting is a part of the process anyway. If I am you I will try with just about anything.
Behavior is called sweep @ 360.
    Website is http://www.cgtextures.com/
I hope this answers your questions.

I’m donating to your fine site, not only for the excellent tutorials but also because your artistry is unmatched in the world of motion! In fact, I’d even wager on that…

  18. Gravatar zak — 08/10/2008

Thanks Mike. I wish there are more people like you. I really spend a lot of my free time (not being with my family) to help out the Motion community. It is so good to hear that someone is appreciating all my efforts.

Hey Zak! Great tutorial as always. Thanks for all your hard work and dedication. XD

would you believe I was actually baffling over how to hold my particles as a 3d object. I tried most of the other simulations but the drag… >.<
Thanks Zak. Now I don’t have to run home to After Effects! :P

    Zak,

You’re a great teacher and I want to thank you for everything you’ve done. I was laid off from a company that I put a lot of time and effort into. My career had nothing to do with graphics, I was a maintenance manager. However, my younger brother is a graphic artist and he has interested me in making a career change. I want you to know that because of your tutorials I feel like I can do anything. Keep up the good work and I’m sure someday, someone will make a big donation to you my friend.

  22. Gravatar zak — 29/01/2009

    HI Back,

I am pleased you are able to make progress in what it seems to be a very big carrier change.
Keep up with good work and maybe when you do something, send it to me. I am always pleased to see other people work.

  23. Gravatar Randall Tolliver — 03/09/2009

Hey Zac. Love how detailed and and creative you get in your tutorials. I was doing the Diamond Sphere tutorial and was curious if you tried putting the speed at 0 in the emitter instead of using the Drag behavior. Is there a difference?

  24. Gravatar zak — 03/09/2009

    HI Randall,
Seems that it does the same thing. You have just found another way of stopping the particles to spread out in Z space.
This just shows how unexplored and how great Apple Motion is. Pat yourself on the shoulder as you have done very well.
Above all we at embryo encourage constructive comments. Keep them coming and once again well done.
