Seems that it does the same thing. You have just found another way of stopping the particles to spread out in Z space.
This just shows how unexplored and how great Apple Motion is. Pat yourself on the shoulder as you have done very well.

Hey Zac. Love how detailed and and creative you get in your tutorials. I was doing the Diamond Sphere tutorial and was curious if you tried putting the speed at 0 in the emitter instead of using the Drag behavior. Is there a difference?

You’re a great teacher and I want to thank you for everything you’ve done. I was laid off from a company that I put a lot of time and effort into. My career had nothing to do with graphics, I was a maintenance manager. However, my younger brother is a graphic artist and he has interested me in making a career change. I want you to know that because of your tutorials I feel like I can do anything. Keep up the good work and I’m sure someday, someone will make a big donation to you my friend.

would you believe I was actually baffling over how to hold my particles as a 3d object. I tried most of the other simulations but the drag… >.<

You can use any shape to make this. Although it will look very differently. Experimenting is a part of the process anyway. If I am you I will try with just about anything.
Behavior is called sweep @ 360.
