I am recruiting for both of  my Access courses at Tower Hamlet College. Digital Motion Graphics – VFX and  Commercial Graphics & Digital Illustration.

The term “commercial graphics” relates to the industry use of graphic design. This
is the combination of images and/or words to create a visual representation of ideas
and messages.
Common uses of commercial graphics include magazines, advertisements, product
packaging and web design. For example, a product package might include a logo or
other artwork, text and pure design elements such as shapes and colour.
The Commercial Graphics & Digital Illustration course explores both traditional and
digital techniques and builds upon the most current design practices enabling
learners to build a professional portfolio of illustrative and graphic design work in
order to progress to higher education or full time employment.
On this course you will be trained by industry professionals, Apple Certified Trainer
and lecturers. You will gain insight into the Graphic Design, Contemporary
Illustration, 3d Modelling, Final Cut Studio 2 and After Effects Compositing
considered by many Universities and potential employer a must these days.
To achieve this you will be working with cutting edge Industry standard software
ranging from Adobe Creative Suite CS3, Autodesk Maya 9, Apple Final Cut Pro 2
and After Effects CS3.
This course will enable you to realise your ideas and build a portfolio of exciting
cutting edge work and in a process of preparing you for higher education or work.

• Contextual studies
• Drawing skills (Idea Development )
• Development of storyboards
• 2d Digital Illustration and Layout (Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign)
• 3d Digital Illustration (Photoshop, Illustrator, Maya)
• 3d Modelling (Autodesk Maya)
• Digital Compositing (Apple Final Cut Studio 2 including Apple Motion 3, After Effects)

Access to Digital Motion Graphics – VFX

Motion graphics is an extension of graphic design. It is a sequence of moving
image & sound (animation or video) most commonly used to visually explain a
concept to an audience. The sequence of motion graphics is usually part of a bigger
piece of multimedia such as a DVD, a TV documentary, a game or even a film.
This 1 year, 2 day-per-week course offers a thorough practical and theoretical
grounding in all aspects of the motion graphics. You will be able to develop a body of
work which will enable you to progress to higher education, or to full time
employment. You will be working with critically informed cutting edge practitioners
and Apple Certified Trainer in this very popular and expanding field of graphic
design.
The course is structured on workshops where a key digital compositing/animation
concepts will be explored in detailed. You will benefit from working on a range of
tutor led projects, enabling you to have a very good insight in answering the briefs in
real life work environment.
You will benefit from the use of Green Screen techniques,high definition video
camera and using Boujou for motion tracking to realise your ideas.
To achieve this you will be working with the following Industry standard software:
Adobe Creative Suite CS3, Autodesk Maya 9, Apple Final Cut Pro 2 and After Effects
CS3 and Boujou.

• A insightful look into the Historical and contemporary development of Graphic Design and Motion Graphics

• Development of storyboards:
• Use of Sketchbooks to inform the development of Animation

• 2d Digital Illustration and Layout:
• Using Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator to prepare and develop Assets for Animation and Compositing

• 3d Digital Illustration and Layout:
• Using Autodesk Maya and Zaxwerks Pro Animator to prepare and develop Assets for Animation and Compositing

• Digital Compositing and Motion Tracking:
  Apple Final Cut Studio 2 including Apple Motion 3, After Effects CS3 and use of Boujou
