“Shutter 3d” Video Tutorial Available Now
3D Shutter
Animation Available to purchase NOW…
My new video tutorial is now available to download. The video tutorial is divided into two parts (Animation and Sound) at 2048 x 1280 pix resolution.
The tutorial will cost $7.99 and is available to download now via BUY NOW button below. This tutorial is fairly cheap bearing in mind that you will surely learn some amazing tips within Apple Motion and Soundtrack Pro. I have created this Video Tutorial at amazingly big 2048 x 1280 pix .
For this animation I have used 3d Shutter filter (third party plugin), lights, advanced type settings and behaviors to create very interesting visual effect with a soundtrack. In this tutorial I will guide you step by step how to make this in Apple Motion 4 and then how to use Soundtrack Pro to create interesting soundtrack. Check out sample animation below.

NOTE TO ALL USERS OF THIS TUTORIAL:
This tutorial was created by using Apple Motion 4, this tutorial can be made in Apple Motion 3 and Soundtrack Pro from Final Cut Studio 2 , however in order to open and use purchased Apple Motion and Soundtrack Pro files you will need Final Cut Studio 3.

I Love the typeagraphical effects.Thoroughly love the tutorial, keep em coming!!:-)
I am glad you have enjoyed it.
Brilliant camera and light technique. This puts new perspective on creating motion graphics in Motion. Well Done…
Thanks very much.
!This is so good Zak- For me on top on the list yours tutorials in motion!
Thank you very much. I hope you have enjoyed it.
As I mentioned the Kinetic type project has over 400 words. Do I put the text side by side on one layer and sync. Or, will I end up with over 400 layers? Most Apple Apps give you 99 layers. Is that the case?
Are all 400 words different. You can always reuse words and animations. No all will be different. And if it is you need to use more than one project to create what you need then you need to put it all together in a new document render it and use something like Apple Soundtrack Pro to add the sound.
I never used more than 20 30 layers. I honestly do not know how many layers motion support. Or how many you can use in a GROUP layer. You could have lots of layers in a group rather than one one group per layer. I will look in a manual about the number of the layers, will let you know.
Wow! Several different projects, then combine them. Your suggestion is interesting. But, there is a tiny flaw. My objective is to sync the animated type to the words in the song. So I’ve imported the song into Motion. If I do several projects, somewhere along the line something is not going to sync. Please have a look on YouTube at Kinetic Typography videos to get an idea of what I’m trying to achieve. It’s nice to actually be able to bounce this off of someone. You’ve really given me something to think about. Thanks again.
I just looked samples on the You tube. Well this is easily done. Just use a group and inside a group have sets of words which will be animated in a way that you want. Say you have 30 words per group. then get another group and add another 30 words and animate that also. This should not be a problem creating in Motion. Let me know how you get on please.
Will do, working on it as we speak.
Please let me know how you get on. Or show me when you finish.
Great tutorial – but it should state before purchase that the final effect requires the purchase of a third party plug in. There is no mention of this prior to purchase.
Hi Back, I am sorry you did not realize that you will need third party filter to achieve this result. Shutter is not available from within Apple Motion, rather you will need as you know third party plugin. I did write in my post that I have used shutter Filter. I have not changed the text to incorporate the words (third party plugin).
Hi Zac- thank you for taking the time to reply. No problem – just a little disappointing getting to the end and realizing I needed a filter not available in motion. Great tutorial anyway and look forward to more.
Not a problem. Please understand that with any motion graphic software you will need to have additional plugins to extend the functionality of the program. Even if you have to get one of those plugins it is a good investment as it will pay itself of very quickly.
I know I try to help you people a lot by trying most of the time to create things with the default set of filters, unfortunately I was not able to do this one. I always think about Motion users when approaching any of my tutorials.
Tried playing the preview but it just spins and doesn’t load. Would like to see a ‘Fringe’ TV show text effect tutorial that doesn’t require 3rd party plug ins either in FCP, Motion or AE.
Hope all is well,
Steve
Works fine here. Have you tried reloading the page please. I have to see the Fringe TV Intro to see what are you talking about, if you have a link post it please.
