This is new video tutorial for Apple Motion in which I show you how to create this cool effect called Particle Beam. For this tutorial I have used  Apple Motion 4.

In this very cool tutorial I wanted to work only with a standard tools of Apple Motion. Please note for this tutorial I have used Apple Motion 4, however this tutorial can be made in Apple Motion 3 apart of the last camera move which is only available in Apple Motion 4. Also note to make the particle beam you can use Apple Motion 3 or 4 as standard.

Anyway I think this is very useful technique. You will be very impressed how easy is to make this animation.

I loved the Particle beam tutorial. I immediately went out and used the technique of making a “particle system” from the dabs of paint strokes. So easy – so powerful. I’ve done some similar things applying motion paths to particle emitters, but this works better and easier, with a different level of control for the right application. I also really appreciate your attention to details – like how in almost all your tutorials you put a lot of work into making really artistic animated backgrounds. There is a lot of cool stuff here. THANKYOU for keeping me motivated! People, help support this creative site and checkout this tutorial – and lots of others -there’s an amazing collection of techniques and artistic presentation.

Thank you for purchasing my tutorial. I love to see what you have done with this technique.

What I did with the particle beam technique was pretty trivial- nothing unique or new. It was for the final clip in a video of a grand canyon trip – but it worked for the effect:

A short clip from the overall video is here (kayaking/rafting the rapids):

    Thanks again

Look, all the elements of a motion graphics are there. Just be very critical of your colour schemes. I think you have very good technical skill. Well Done, and keep pushing forward. Next time try to use Monochromatic or Analogue colours.

Thanks for the tip. I think I will tape a color wheel to my monitor! – and review your color harmony tutorial. Thanks.

Just visit Adobe Kuler and start to choose your colours. Then use my tutorial to bring the colours into Apple Motion. You will see how much better all will look. As I have said all the technical elements are there. You just need to pay more attention to the colours.

Zak, looks like a neat tutorial. Before i purchase, can you do this with motion 3? Or can you only use motion 4? Thanks.

You sure can. Please read what I written about Particle Beam in the Post. For the last camera move I have used a behavior which is not available in Motion 3, however this can be replaced by keyframing Z position of the camera.
    I hope this helps.
